Onboarding (6/6): Room Sensor Install

Onboarding (6/6): Room Sensor Install

Transcript
  1. When adding a Red Link room sensor, start by putting the 2 AAA batteries in the sensor.
  2. Head to the thermostat screen, select Devices and Sensors and select Add.
  3. The thermostat will then indicate that it's looking for the sensor.
  4. Click the Connect button on the sensor. Once the thermostat has located the sensor in your hand, the screen will read “Adding Device.” The sensor will then flash green until the connection is secured.
  5. Once secured, the thermostat will ask you to verify that it's connected to the correct sensor.
  6. The last step before placing the room sensor is to select a room name for the sensor. During this step, it's very important to give the room a different name than the room name of the thermostat. Adding them to the same room will disable visibility into both the thermostat and the room sensor. To do this, select Other, then type in the name of the room for the sensor.
  7. Lastly, look for the best location to place the sensor. This is somewhere it can accurately read space temperature. Be mindful not to place it near a vent that's blowing air, a window, or somewhere it can't get knocked off the wall by a passerby. Once you've done this, stick the sensor on the wall.
  8. To set priority between the thermostat and the room sensor, click the house icon at the top of the thermostat home screen. The device with the green box around it indicates what's in priority. The unit will always run off of what's in priority.
  9. To prolong the battery life of the room sensor, we recommend removing motion detection by following these steps: Select Devices and Sensors on the thermostat, then select the Sensor Options and then switch the Use Motion toggle to the OFF position.
  10. Great, now you've completed the installation of the Red Link room sensor.
