Troubleshooting Monaire Thermostat Offline

Troubleshooting Monaire Thermostat Offline

MONAIREKnowledge Base For Facility Teams & Technicians

What does the "Thermostat Offline" alert mean?

  • Cause: The thermostat has lost network connectivity (Wi-Fi/Internet) or lost 24V power feed from the HVAC unit itself.
  • Automated Scheduling: Pre-programmed heating and cooling schedules continue running locally on the device.
  • Remote Control: Live app adjustments and portal overrides are temporarily paused until connection is restored.
💡 This does not mean the physical HVAC equipment is non-operational. You can verify active heating or cooling by checking the Supply Air Temperature in your Monaire app.

Hardware Troubleshooting Steps

Execute these steps in order before approving a technician dispatch:

1

Tap the Thermostat Screen

Walk to the Monaire thermostat and tap on the screen. If it does not light up or respond, this indicates a power feed issue.

• If the screen turns on or responds: Proceed to Step 2 to check Wi-Fi/Internet status.
• If the screen remains dark or unresponsive: Ensure the unit is firmly seated on the wall mount by pressing gently around the perimeter so all terminal pins engage with the mounting bracket. Also verify that the HVAC disconnect switch or circuit breaker for this unit are turned ON.
2

Open the Settings Menu

Tap the 3 stacked lines (hamburger menu icon) at the bottom-most portion of the physical thermostat screen to open the device menu.

3

Verify Monaire Wi-Fi Connection

Ensure the thermostat is connected to the dedicated Monaire network:

Network (SSID): Monaire WiFi | Password: Monaire23!
3.1 Can't see the Wi-Fi option in the thermostat settings? Unlock via lock code in the Monaire Customer App.

3.2 On the physical thermostat: Go to Security > Enter your 4-digit code > Select "Unlocked".
3.3 Back to settings: Tap the back arrow (upper-left) until you return to settings. The Wi-Fi settings line item will now appear.
4

Confirm "Connected to the Internet" Status

Check the status line on the Wi-Fi settings screen. It should read: Status: Connected to the Internet

If it displays "Not connected to the Internet", perform these checks:
  • 4.1 Toggle Wi-Fi: Turn Wi-Fi toggle OFF for 1 minute, then toggle back ON.
  • 4.2 Power Cycle Thermostat & Gateway: Detach the thermostat from the wall plate and re-seat it. Simultaneously restart the Monaire Gateway by unplugging its power cord from the wall outlet for 15 seconds and plugging it back in. Wait 3–5 minutes for systems to boot and re-check status.
  • 4.3 Connect to Local Building Wi-Fi: If it still does not connect, select your facility's primary local Wi-Fi network and enter its password to test connectivity.

Still Offline? Call Monaire Customer Support (339) 666-2473

For Customer: If you completed steps 1 through 4 and the unit remains disconnected, follow these steps before contacting Monaire Customer Support at (339) 666-2473:

  1. Check at the Monaire Customer app if a Work Order for an offline thermostat was issued by Monaire.
  2. If it exists: Approve it so a technician can take a look.
  3. If it does not exist: Issue your own Work Order or contact a supervisor with access to create one.
⚠️ Hardware Safety Warning: Do not unscrew the wall bracket or touch low-voltage terminal wires. Once steps 1 through 4 have been attempted, request a Work Order so a certified technician can safely inspect the HVAC 24V transformer and sub-base pins.
