Steps involved in changing the system and fan mode:

  1.   First, navigate to the buildings tab and click on the building with the equipment you want to edit. Either an RTU or AC is the type of unit with the option to change the system mode. In the details section of a unit, you will be able to tell if you can change the system mode. If a temperature and cooling or heating number is displayed, this unit can be changed and is active. Otherwise, this unit is likely inactive and can not be changed.

  2. Click on an active RTU, for example.

  3. Now, there are four options for system modes, all of which serve different purposes.

    1. Auto is for when you want an automatic switch between heating and cooling as needed, typically in times of fluctuating temperature. When selecting this option, you will be able to choose the heating and cooling setpoints manually.

    2. The cooling option means only the cooling system will be activated when the temperature reaches above your setpoint which can be chosen manually.

    3. On the other hand, the heating option means only the heating system will be activated when the temperature is below your setpoint which is once again chosen by the user. Cooling would usually be used in hot months, with heating being used in colder months.

    4. Finally, the off option is a disabling of both heating and cooling, used when no automatic climate control is desired. There is no setpoint option for this system mode as the automatic climate control is disabled.

  4. Now, can move onto the second part of this tutorial which is changing the fan mode. You will be able to do so on the same screen as long as the system mode is not set to off. If it is set to off, there will be no option for changing the fan mode.

  5. There are three types of fan modes that can be chosen.

    1. The auto setting allows the fan to turn on or off based on heating and cooling demand.

    2. Circulate causes the fan to turn on for at least twenty minutes each hour in order to ensure the air is circulating and fresh.

    3. Finally, if the fan mode is set to on, this means that the fan is on at all times.

  6. You are now ready to change the system and fan mode!
